WebSep 12, 2011 · Also the F59PHI is an EMD product vs the aftermarket MP series by Motive Power Industries aka MPI. Both use power plants from EMD 645 and 710 as pointed out already. EMD stopped making passenger type locomotives after the F59PHI. MPI has picked up the market albeit with many EMD parts in their product.
